The Tip Sheet - Magic Music

After handing a copy of Onion Fresh in person to Jonathan King, he promised to listen to it and get back in touch. This lead to Magic Music having been featured in the November 98 issue of the Tip Sheet, as well as having their one songs [Friday night at the book club] featured on the CD. DJ's were raving about the track in the follow up issue. As a direct result they are to be featured in the next issue of Circuit.

Music . . . it's the music, October '98

Once again I get back to the office after being away for a few day. Fax paper spewing all over the floor from out of the machine, unpteen messages on the answering machine and a neat pile of post next to the door. Then I see a list of messages pinned to the fridge, kick the computer into life and download over a hundred e-mails. Almost half the phone messages are based on the theme of "Mark where are you, I need to speak to you"

Well I’ve been to London to attend ‘Music . . . it’s the music’, a seminar about the music industry and how it works. There were seminars on topics such as Marketing, Media, A+R, Retail, Recording Studio’s and Promotion. The main reason for going was to meet and talk to some of the top people in the music industry. I gave away about 60 CD’s to people such as top journalists to small time fanzine writers, management companies large and small, as well as many record and publishing companies, these included all of the big four.

It would appear that both the bands on the label and us at 25 Records are do their thing! I got to talk to people such as Head’s of A and R at EMI, V2, Universal, and Warner Chappell, the Managing Directors of Sony, Gut, PolyGram, Island, Momentum, Creation and Roadrunner Records. As well as superstars such as Jonathan King, [who was very entertaining]. JK had some very good things to say about himself and how lucky we were to meet him, but it was all very tongue in cheek! Both Jonathan King and Alan McGee both promised to listen to the CDs I gave them.

So after my well-needed sleep it was back to the office for a 9am start, all of a sudden its now 8pm, time to tart myself up and head off to the opening of a new club. Stayed until midnight, despite being encouraged to stay by a very pretty young lady, as I’ve got to get some stuff in the post before the last post on Saturday morning. All this for rock and roll!

Next joke

A lady and her dog were enjoying a stroll in the park when her dog was mounted from behind by a large Rottweiler.
The Rot was really humping away and the lady was frantically trying to break them up, to no avail.
A small boy walked up and stuck his finger in the Rots butt, and the action immediately stopped.
The lady was amazed. "How did you do that?" she asked.
The little boy said, "That's my dog! He can dish it out, but he can't take it!"
