There's only one 'F' in Ferrymen
(think about it)
The
Ferrymen formed in 1991 which was unfortunately the same time as
the country was going Madchester crazy.
The Ferrymen's style of music did not fit in with this scene. They
were turned down by every major UK record label for sounding too
similar to The Beautiful South and The Housemartins.
Their first gig was in their hometown of Doncaster in June 1991
and was a total sell out as were many more of their local gigs over
the next 5 or 6 years. Also playing numerous gigs around the UK
on the live music circuit.
In
1996 they released their first track on the 25 Records compilation
'. . . OFF' and also recorded a CD 'A Slice
Of humble Pie' for Spanish record company Plastic Discs.
A
very successful tour of Spain accompanied the CD release and The
Ferrymen were voted in the top 40 most requested bands of 1996 by
listeners of Radio Barcelona, sandwiched between Phil Collins and
Jamiroquai.
1996 also saw the release of the single 'Whole World' in Germany
on Black Pearl Records.
Due to the release being the fastest selling record on Black Pearl
and receiving rave reviews, the record company arranged a tour of
Germany for The Ferrymen in 1997.
While on tour they were offered an album deal by a bigger label
with world wide distribution. Unfortunately the band had decided
to split up before the tour and only decided to play on because
of the amount of tickets sold.
The
Ferrymen were under no dillussions of grandeur, they knew their
style of music had, had it's day, but they played the music that
they enjoyed playing.
They refused to conform to Madchester or Brit Pop and in the end
it destroyed them.
Even a band as stubborn as The Ferrymen realised that you have
to move on, and with the times eventually.
The great memories will last for the rest of their lives. The Ferrymen
almost lived the dream and there was only one 'F' in Ferrymen.

"Poor Little" Osama
After his death, Osama bin Laden went to heaven.
There he was greeted by George Washington, who proceeded
to slap him across the face and yell at him, "How dare
you try to destroy the nation I helped conceive!"
Patrick Henry approached and punched Osama in the nose and
shouted, "You wanted to end our liberties but you failed."
James Madison entered, kicked Osama and said, "This
is why I allowed our government to provide for the common
defense!"
Thomas Jefferson came in and proceeded to beat Osama many
times with a long cane and said, "It was evil men like
you that provided me the inspiration to pen the Declaration
of Independence!"
These beatings and thrashings continued as John Rudolph,
James Monroe and 66 other early Americans came in and unleashed
their anger on the Muslim terrorist leader.
As Osama lay bleeding and writhing! in unbearable pain an
Angel appeared. !
Bin Laden wept in pain and said to the Angel, "This
is not what you promised me."
The Angel replied, "I told you there would be 72 Virginians
waiting for you up here. What did you think I said?"
