Onion Fresh

honeygun

Honeygun are now called Belcafe

The respected psychic Professor Mirza of Brighton Pier, forecast great things for this band. Plenty of Fame, Rock 'n' Cheese Rolls. While waiting for his prediction to materialise they will keep writing Honey tunes that melt in your mouth, like Brighton Rock but without the toothache. A shot of Honeygun can work wonders. Reflective and uplifting songs touching the raw nerve of pop. It all makes sense when you listen.

· think Tom Jones is cool

· Rikki wore Lederhosen at Primary School and had a pet parrot

· Silvia was kicked out the school choir and accidentally killed

30 chickens

History: Originally in a 10-piece band which released a self financed CD and played such venues as the Mean Fiddler and the Rock Garden in London UK. Survived identity crisis after the split and created Honeygun.

How did you meet? Now was it Rascal's or Waitrose cheese counter?

Who is the main songwriter? Songwriting is shared. We usually take a guitar riff or melody and develop this idea into a song. Heartline started with a simple bass riff and drum beat.

Influences: Cranberries, Pretenders, Sheryl Crow, Police, REM

What is the scene like in your area? Brighton has a big and famous Dance Club Scene, great for D.J.s, not so brilliant for bands. Apparently, there are about 300 bands/songwriters in East Sussex with only five suitable live venues in Brighton which even then arent dedicated to bands only. Having said that, there are some good bands creating interest from the music industry.

Who or what inspired you to become a musician? Silvia: Watching Rock

documentaries (not a good live scene in alpine Switzerland). Rikki: Seeing

great bands live and guitar heroes such as Jimmy Page, Hendrix and Andy Summers

What are the highs and lows of being in a band? Applause / No applause

Do you prefer recording in the studio or playing live shows? Playing live is more of a kick.

Do you have any advice for bands just starting out? Is that what you really, really want?

Sum up your music in three words: Very tasty indeed

Honeygun factfile

Timothy is lonely, hes looking for Love

Timothy if only you could find, somebody kind

Reading the Heartline looking for Love

TLC for Timothy, SOH and a funtime

No-no-no nobody, nobody loves this lonley heart

So pretty but shy, shes looking for Love

Lady needs guy as a friend or maybe more

Reading the Heartline looking for Love

TLC for lonely Lady, SOH and a funtime

No-no-no nobody, nobody loves this lonely heart
