How would you describe your music?
Indierock mixed with good
old traditional pop enhanced by
steeling ideas from from every available source.
What are your releases so far?
Coming Out CD album, various compilation
CD from various around the world and many the very fine 25 Records.
Can you give us a short history of
Red Ash and the Love Commandos?
Red Ash and the Love Commandos is an on going
project which has had various line ups over the years. Styles and changes
come and go but the beat goes on!
Whats the success story so far?
Red Ash and the Love Commandos featured on a
charity album By any means necessary which featured artists
such as Suede, Chumbawamba, The Shamen, Bjork and Jamiroquai.
Have you played any important gigs?
Red Ash and the Love Commandos used to play
two or three times a week, so far this year we have played twice, both
on 25 Records promo nights. We provided the music for a light sculpture
and video instillation during December 1998 in Bournemouth, England. Our
music has been played on radio from America to Australia
What do you consider the high point of your
career?
Two slabs of vinyl known as By any means
necessary.
What do you think about the current UK music
scene and do you think you will change its face?
Better than it has been, who knows, will the
UK music scene change me?
Which bands influence your sound?
Ian Dury, Lou Reed, Patti Smith, KLF, early
Prince, Tori, Steps.
Whats your fave record of all time and
why did you choose it?
Teenage Kicks by the Undertones, because its
got energy and innocence and is just ace.
What are your plans for the future?
Give in to requests from various DJs to
record a new album.
