What's the name of the band, and how did you come up with the
name? Robert Bevan is really a one man band, with various supporting
musicians, who help out whenever possible.
What are the individual members names and what do they play?
Varies according to the day, but the recorded tracks were supervised
by Mark Brittain, who also played lead guitar.
Do you have a web site? No.
How did you meet? Through the paper.
How long have you been together? It is a sporadic relationship.
Where is the band based? The musicians came from Hertfordshire,
though the material is essentially solo stuff.
Who or what inspired you to become a musician? Listening
to so much music all my life it became difficult not to try to
contribute in some way.
What bands are you listening to at the moment? Old school
folk rock blues and soul Tim Hardin Van Morrison Marvin Gaye etc
What are some of your favourite songs? Thousands, from the
Smiths to John Martyn. All of the live Tim Hardin Homecoming Concert
and Its Too Late to Stop Now by Van Morrison.
Do you prefer to play in the studio or live gigs? Any activity
at all is welcome.
Describe your sound. Folk, soul, rock, guitar, blues, ballads.
Where can people come and see you play? Currently hard to
predict.
What do you like about being a part of 25 Records? Musical
opportunities produced by people trying hard to create a forum for
otherwise unheard sounds.
What are most of your songs about? (love, partying, political,
beer, etc.) Relationships and all who sail in them.
Give us an interesting story that happened either at a gig, or
while
writing or recording a song. The recorded tracks for 25 records
were quickly threaded and the musicians were impressed with my odd
suggestions. At one point, on an unused piano cut, I had to ask
the pianist to go for something between Elton John and Whitney Houston,
which shocked him a bit I think, to aim for the sound I was after.
Do you play any weird or unusual instruments? No.
Have you been in other bands? fleeting guest spots only.
Do you have any interesting stories involving the police or breaking
the law? ( That we can post on the site) My appearance at Shady
Lane police Station in Watford in a police line up, but I was not
picked out, fortunately, as I was really there to make up the numbers.
I think the guy went down for GBH and ABH etc.. A horrible little
man.
Does anyone in the band have any strange or unusual habits or
superstitions? If so, they are very well hidden.
Please list 10 bands that sound something like you or fans of
that band would like you. I.e. if you like S Club 7 or Steps then
you would probably like The Vengaboys. I don't know. Perhaps
any of the bands that produce folksy ballads like Starsailor, Travis,
etc..
Feel free to contact the band at 25 Records
anytime for interviews/Band features/ gig info etc. at: 25 Records
PO Box 3006, Poole, Dorset, BH12 2HU.
